What the Bardo Group Can Offer

Introduction

We are a volunteer group connected to Kagyu Samye Dzong Glasgow who provide practical help and assistance to those connected to the centre who may be in need during critical illness or during the often difficult period leading up to their eventual passing from this life.

The help offered by us may be as little as taking the person out to the park for a couple of hours, doing some shopping for them or simply sitting with them for a while to provide company during a stay in hospital or a hospice. At a spiritual level we can help by performing 'Chenrezig' pujas and other prayers that we consider of great benefit.

The Bardo Group also provide information to Buddhists, families, carers, medical practitioners and undertakers about how to ensure correct and compassionate treatment of a deceased person's body.

How do I get involved? If you are interested in becoming involved with the group you should contact the centre and you will be put in touch with one of the group co-ordinators. You will be asked to fill out a simple questionnaire giving your contact details and letting us know how you wish to participate and the geographical areas in which you can help. If you have any appropriate specialist skills, let us know. You will also be asked if you are willing to participate in an 'emergency telephone tree' which will allow many people to be contacted quickly when a situation arises where help is needed.
